The Carroll County Courthouse, built between 1871 and 1875 is another popular destination. Listed on both the state and National Historic Districts, it is perhaps the most famous structure in Hillsville and surrounding Carroll County. It was the site of the infamous 1912 shooting which killed five people and drew national attention. Tours are available through the Carroll County Historical Society.
